However fulfilling that may be for some people, I tend to lean into what Steven Pressfield (author of the War of Art) is saying: When choosing between creative projects, do what gives you the most fear, that is where you have the most to gain.Marthehttp://www.thefreedomexperiment.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8250102773320691203.post-30029820886630697302011-10-23T04:23:31.928-04:002011-10-23T04:23:31.928-04:00I'm fascinated by the words that come from tha...I'm fascinated by the words that come from that place - for ourselves, from ourselves, not crafted as Art or Writing or Poetry but with the power to move, connect, transform both reader and writer. I feel blessed to live in times where it's possible for us to share in communities and networks big and small - and grateful that you keep choosing to click :-)Joanna Patersonhttp://artofeverydaywonder.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8250102773320691203.post-68653344327068732752011-10-22T11:43:54.068-04:002011-10-22T11:43:54.068-04:00Wow, I love this. So glad you keep choosing on the side of sharing! I know I'm a good writer who can string sentences together comprehensibly (and sometimes even concisely!) and I LOVED to communicate through the written word.

Ditto when I'm at work, as a copywriter for a natural health and wellness company. I'm totally relaxed about the quality of my writing there - it's not always exactly what my client wants on the first go, but I'm happy to work with them to get whatever I've written to the point where it is.

But suddenly when I started my Crystal Clarity blog, I found myself second-guessing almost everything I write for it. It all seems too wordy, too dense, too... something. I'm hoping this is just a beginner's phase I'm going through as I move into a new area of my life. But whether it is or isn't, I totally understand what you mean about the fear of sharing your work...Tanja @ Crystal Clarityhttp://crystalclaritywriting.weebly.com/blog.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8250102773320691203.post-10586548394066114622011-10-21T13:53:15.733-04:002011-10-21T13:53:15.733-04:00As I read this post which evoked, as many of your ...As I read this post which evoked, as many of your posts do, that sense of hesitation, vulnerability and truth, my heart began to tell me a story. It said, the reason we create for full view so much more willingly than someone like Emily is because as a society we've now moved to that level of sharing. For us to reclaim vulnerability and love, our tenderness and frailty needs expression to touch others and let them know it's ok to be true. Made me stop and think about why I blog, and publish photos of my art, etc. I too pause in fear over the "publish" button, but ultimately must release my fledgling words and creations into the universe. I want to share myself with others; to be of some comfort, pleasure or benefit to other people.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
